New Brand Aligns with Positioning as a Technology Company

  • Following its successful launch in Poland, Kreditech will soon offer fast online microloans in the Czech Republic and Spain, with additional countries to follow.
  • Scoring technology featuring an innovative algorithm enables rapid scaling of the business model: the Hamburg-based company operates as a holding entity for its regional subsidiaries.

The Hamburg startup specializing in the provision of microloans now operates under the name Kreditech. This rebranding is both a logical step, following the company’s recent expansion into European growth markets and adjacent market segments, and a response to a dispute with a German company over its former name, Kredito. Under the Kreditech umbrella brand, the B2B activities of its subsidiary Zertifikato SSL GmbH (www.zertifikato.com) and the B2C microloan services are now consolidated. Kreditech will function as the holding company for its regional subsidiaries, while the international microloan platforms will continue to operate under the Kredito24 brand.

“The new name reflects our identity as a technology company,” explains Kreditech founder and CEO Sebastian Diemer. “With our platform Zertifikato.com, we have already demonstrated over the past months that our portfolio extends beyond microloans for end consumers, offering innovative services for online merchants and marketplaces as well.”

For instance, the Hamburg team has launched Zertifikato.com, a new portal for rapid verification of user identity and creditworthiness. However, the primary focus remains on the internationalization of Kreditech’s services. After a multi-month testing phase in Germany and the successful launch of the platform in Poland (www.Kredito24.pl) in early August, the company is now preparing to expand further.

Scalable Technology and Market Leadership

The Kredito24 online platforms assist customers in local markets by offering microloans of up to approximately €1,000, helping to quickly and easily resolve small financial issues. Decisions on creditworthiness are made using a proprietary algorithm, enabling objective processing of loan applications and disbursal of funds within 15 minutes—24/7, including weekends. Based on up to 8,000 data points, the fully automated system determines creditworthiness in a matter of seconds.

“Our scoring technology is market-leading and fully developed,” says Diemer. “We can flexibly adapt it to different countries’ conditions, which allows us to drive international expansion at a rapid pace.” Following the successful launch in Poland, Kreditech plans to enter the Czech and Spanish markets soon. Preparations for launching the microloan platform in additional European and non-European markets are already underway.

Strong Investor Support

Kreditech is backed by prominent German and European investors, including Digital Pioneers N.V., Point Nine Capital, and entrepreneurs such as Stefan Glänzer (Passion Capital), Heiko Hubertz, Michael Brehm, and Felix Haas, the CEO and co-founder of amiando.
